Media Trust recruits for Community Voices - was Digital Mentors

Over on the original localcommunities group - where this network started - Jessica Medling of the Media Trust reports that they are recruiting for the Community Voices (formerly Digital Mentors) programme, funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government.\ DCLG said the digital mentors programme “would work in deprived communities in England which would help more individuals to use social and community media. Through increasing skills in using websites, podcasts, digital photography, online publishing tools and local broadcast media, Communities and Local Government wish to:

* empower individuals and communities by giving those citizens who feel ‘voiceless’ or ‘unheard’ new tools to express their views and collaborate on issues of relevance to them\ * provide informal and formal learning opportunities and assist people into employment, particularly in the creative industries\ * improve access to public and other services”\

Adding: “DIUS and Communities and Local Government will work with the Media Trust on developing the network of Digital Mentors. Community groups will have the opportunity to develop their own websites, blogs and chatrooms, develop and publish podcasts about their local areas and share pictures and videos about their own community and the things that matter to them.”

Here’s the job adverts: **Head of Content and Digital Projects** (£40 - £45K)\ Reporting to the Development Director, you will be responsible for leading our ground-breaking digital and content programmes, including Community Voices. You’ll be an exceptional and experienced senior project and people manager, ideally with a background in community and third sector marketing and communications. A strong track record in digital marketing and media is essential. (see link for detailed responsibilities covering several programmes).\ \ Project Coordinator £26K\ Reporting to the Head of Content and Digital Projects, you will be responsible for the organisation and day-to-day management of the Community Voices programme, and ensuring that Community Voices runs efficiently, on time and on budget. Responsibilities include:\ * Coordinating, developing and assisting with the delivery of a nationwide training programme for target groups\ * Co-ordinating and developing a grant scheme for target groups\ * Coordinating and managing the administration around the project\ * Liaising with charity and media groups and other stakeholders to nurture strong partnerships\ * Attending to enquiries from community groups\ * Developing workplans, Gantt charts, project plans, and managing information databases\ * Managing timescales and deadlines\ * Support with managing and moderating online engagement\ * Liaising with press and media contacts when necessary\ * Inter-departmental communication\ * Coordinating and support with managing Advisory Board meetings\ \ Community Outreach Manager £28K\ Reporting to the Head of Content and Digital Projects, you will be responsible for the organisation and day-to-day management of the Community Voices programme, to ensuring that Community Voices runs efficiently, on time and on budget. Responsibilities include:\ * Supporting and advising local community groups and projects on the use and implementation of digital media\ * Working with target groups to capture information and activity and encourage participation\ * Developing new online content, encouraging and moderating online community participation and managing the project blog, and several other social media communication and interaction\ * Collating material for a range of guides and resources for community groups\ * Liaising with charity and media groups, and other stakeholders to nurture strong partnerships\ * Managing database information, and other tools for collating content and project management\ * Assisting with the development and delivery of a nationwide training programme for target groups\ * Liaising with press and media contacts when necessary\ * Inter-departmental communication\ * Supporting the Community Voices team in working to deadlines\ \ Grants and administration Assistant £20K\ Reporting to the Head of Content and Digital Projects, you will be responsible for the administration and organisation of various grant schemes associated with Community Voices.
